If you are interested in building a shed for your yard, 12 feet by 8 feet is a good size. A shed that size offers plenty of storage space and you can build it at minimal cost with the right shed plans. If you are like me, handy with a hammer and electric screw driver, stick around and learn how it’s done.
Shed plans of any size are available on the Internet and can be easily downloaded, but you have to use caution. Through searching the Internet, I have found a number of shed plans for downloading. There is usually a charge for these plans. But, here is where the need for caution enters into the picture:
You want to be sure you are dealing with a reputable source. Many people have complained of downloading plans, only to discover they were incomplete and missing important information, such as proper measurements and necessary materials. This can be frustrating, especially if you have paid for the download.
I eventually found a solution to this problem: an acceptable set of plans for a 12 foot x 8 foot shed. It took a while, but after many hours of searching, I came across a website that offered a good selection of quality shed plans as well as other woodworking projects.
Check out Ryan’s My Shed Plans. I learned he was the number one seller of shed plans in the year 2011 – internationally! Turns out his products are the most downloaded on the Internet!
Tips for Shed Building.
1. For the foundation you need to first excavate the area and add a layer of gravel. You may also choose to extend the base for a wooden entrance ramp. That’s optional. Finally, you must level the gravel to ensure it is flat, firm, and level.
2. Always use pressure-treated wood for your foundation.
3. Allow space for any doors or windows, as well as the ramp.
4. Make sure to allow for good air circulation inside the shed.
5. Build the walls lying on the ground, then lift and install them on the foundation
